Campbeltown Heritage Trail

Postby Ship called Dignity » Mon Aug 02, 2010 11:31 pm

The Campbeltown Town Centre Regeneration Project (CTCRP) is an amalgamation of the Campbeltown Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) and the Campbeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI). Funders include, Heritage Lottery Fund, Argyll & Bute Council, Historic Scotland, LEADER and HIE.

For some time it has been recognised that Campbeltown does not have a heritage trail. Funding was secured via the THI Training Programme and a group was formed consisting of CTCRP Staff and local volunteers. Leaflets are currently being developed and should be available early next year. For further information please contact the CTCRP office on (01586) 559048.

Would be good if someone attended this and gave a review 8)

The inaugural Campbeltown Heritage Trail took place yesterday with 20 people in attendance. Visitors from Glasgow, Blackburn and Teesside joined locals as they were given a tour of the town by John Bakes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

There are three remaining tours during August - each Wednesday, starting at 1pm from the Tourist Information Centre. John Bakes who hosted yesterday’s tour and will also host the tour on 18th August 2010. Alex McKinven will be the tour guide on 11th and 25th August 2010.

Further development work will continue during the winter and a range of leaflets should be available for next summer.

Well done to everyone involved!
