We are pleased to announce that this year’s Southend Photo Competition is now open.

The arrangements are similar to last year - entries are welcome from juniors (under 16) and adults. Entry fee is £2 per photo for juniors, £4 per photo for adults. The junior winner will receive a prize of £25, the adult winner will receive £50. Entries can be submitted up until the end of February 2016 and judging will take place soon after, hopefully in the newly completed Dunaverty Hall.

There are very few conditions – you can’t be a professional photographer, and the photo can’t have been entered in any other competition. It is OK if it has been on Facebook or Twitter. Low resolution photos won’t be suitable for the Southend 2017 calendar unfortunately, even if they win.

You must be happy that your photo (whether a winner or not) could be used to promote Southend. Photos of any part of life in Southend are welcome – from a glorious sky to children on the beach, from a huge meringue at Muneroy to the Tardis that is current Post Office.

It would help us if you could name the photos with the title you’d like to be used in the judging. Though the Committee decided against setting categories this year, the entries will be split into groups (decided nearer the time) to make the job of judging easier for the villagers. Last year choosing the best photo out of the 100+ entries proved very tricky.

To enter, please complete the attached entry form, and email it with your photos to dunavertyphotos@outlook.com. You can pay online, details in the form.

Good luck
