FREE Training Courses in Campbeltown

Postby CampbeltownTHI » Wed Oct 30, 2013 10:59 am

ARGYLL and Bute Council is encouraging building contractors, professionals and homeowners to sign up for a series of traditional skills training events that are taking place in Campbeltown during November.

The four one-day specialist training courses and two evening events are being delivered through the Campbeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) training programme.

The training programme – an important aspect of the THI – aims to promote traditional skills which will help local contractors and building professionals who are working on historic buildings.

It also hopes to inspire local people to get involved with their community’s heritage, as well as encouraging owners to effectively repair and maintain properties which are of historic, cultural and social importance to local areas.

Funded by Argyll and the Islands LEADER, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Argyll and Bute Council, the November events are the last in a series which has seen over 300 people receive training and around 1,000 people able to find out more about the heritage of Campbeltown and its historic buildings.

Each session is free of charge and will be delivered by some of the top building conservation specialists in the country. There is a wide range of topics on offer, including stone conservation and repair, working with traditional plasterwork and external render and harling. They are designed to appeal to contractors and building professionals, including architects and surveyors, although community group members and owners of historic properties will also find them helpful.

Courses run throughout November at venues in and around Campbeltown, and range from full day events to two-hour sessions – all free of charge, with lunch and refreshments provided where applicable.

One Day Courses available on:
Mortars for repair and conservation - 06 November, 9.30am - 4pm
