UK car rental

Postby Ags » Thu Mar 26, 2009 6:37 pm

We are off to a family wedding south of the border in the summer and since there will be 6 of us, us 3 and 3 pensioners, flying is looking like the best option for my sanity
I will do some research over the easter holidays but any advice on which car hire firm to use/not to use?

I've found the car hire companies all much the same so I generally use a consolidator like http://www.carhire4less.co.uk or http://www.carhire3000.com to get a good deal on price.

I would recommend the Vauxhall garage Ags, they have some nice comfortable 5 seaters for the long journey.
Then you can fly down yourself and enjoy the peace and quiet, relaxing and sipping a few vino,s. Just a suggestion tho perhaps it may not go down so well with hubs.

  Good advice Ninja but the flight is only an hour, even I wouldn't manage "a few vinos" in that time and as for driving, it would take about 3 days by the time the auld yins have their coffee stop at 11 and their lunch at 1 and their coffee at 4
Thanks Malky for the sensible advice, I have looked briefly online but with one firm in particular all people carriers were automatic - i've never driven an automatic!!!

Hmmm, might be quite a few toilet stops too

Automatics are easy to drive. If you're unsure, the hire company will show you.
