Just referring to your posting. Meaning you can't beat memories!

I've got some photos to add on the Peninver Page but haven't quite got round to it.

Things have changed - there is a new village hall...

which you can see at

Hi Neil, I too have photos of Peninver, my Uncle Eddie owns Peninver Sands, so I'm pleased to hear you had a good time there. My ma grew up there so as a family we went back there for holidays to stay with her parents, as my parents had moved to Bedford in the early 60's (but my dad is now back in the wee toon).

Fiona_R... is this my wee cousin? (Karen in MK here). Fiona... do you remember the summer of '76, all of us on the beach at Peninver that hot summer along? As a youngster I can remember buying sweets from Margaret at the post office!

Hi Mumpysmum. Missed you at weekend but I remember the summer of '76 but I don't want to give your secrets or Fiona_R s away. Peninver was a great place to be. The caravan shop was far better than the Post Office fresh rolls and papers by 8am and the dances with the slipperine were excellent. Can't remember the water being to cold but the jellyfish were a nightmare. :D

Ahhhhh!!!! Peninver in the 70's when Eddie didn't own half the shore front and young Edward had hair, with walks to stackie rock to see black Peter and have a brew by the sea.

Made it to the top but there was a nasty ledge just before the summit that you had to be careful with but once you got by that you were home and dry.

:? Do jellyfish travel in swarms?

I don't think so as they can't fly but they do sting like mad and for the life of me I can't remember what you would call more than one. That day there were hundreds. I never made it to the top of the rock I was too feart. But I did swim in the big pool near the salmon nets great big whelks too. Did you live in the village??
