Hi There,

My name is Shelley and I am descended from Robert and Mary (nee McMillan) McKinnon . They emigrated to New Zealand in 1876 on the ship Timaru from Glasgow to Port Chalmers, Dunedin, New Zealand. Their son, Donald was 11 at the time, and he was my great-grandfather. My grandmother, while not Scots-born, was influenced heavily her father was passionate about all things Scot.

Robert and Mary were at Gortinanane House near Taylinloan at the 1871 census.

Robert's father William McKinnon was at Gortinafaull at the time of his marriage in 1810 to Ann Wallace from Kilmory.

Mary McKinnon nee McMillan's folks were Duncan and Ann (nee Ferguson) McMillan. In the 1861 census, Duncan and Mary were at Auchnafand. Mary is listed as being born at Saddel of Kepnes.

My family and I are coming Kintyre way in September this year, and are eager to visit some of these places and see what my ancestors saw.

I have found where Gortinanane House is, but any help finding the other localities would be appreciated, and any local history to do with them

Best regards from NZ,

Shelley
