Looking for William McAlister
Posted: Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:30 pmI received a letter from Manchester asking for help tracing a William McAlister from Campbeltown who was born in August 1924.
Marguerite Holmes attended a friends 60th wedding anniversary where they got talking about war time memories and of Mr Bill McAlister who was a Engineer on the same Halifax Bomber and were awarded the DPC and DFM after 2 or 3 tours on operation before 1945.
Marguerite goes on to say "The only things remembered of his family are:-
An older brother Neil, wife Jenny and son John McAlister (John was about 4 or 5 at the time)
An older sister Jessie married name not known
A younger brother possibly called Hector."
Does anyone know if William is still alive or of his family locally?
