Good result for the Pupils today as they return to winning ways. Boys, unfortunately, lost away to Carlton.

Premier 1 Campbeltown Pupils 2 - 1 Kilbowie Union J.Scott
Premier 2 Carlton YM 3 - 1 Campbeltown Boys J.Lawson

On another note it is good to see Lochgilphead going so well in the 1st Division. From their 11 games this season they have won 10 and only lost one. Despite this they sit second to St Patricks B who have one all , but one, of there 14 league games. The rules now, are that the league winners of Division One are promoted to the Premier except the B teams. Is this a cunning plan to keep an Argyll team out of the top leagues? Good luck to Red Star - saw them at the start of the season and they have a good side which deserve a crack at the higher leagues. Well done to Tarbert too who return to winning ways.

Division 1 Lochgilphead Red Star 5 - 0 Eaglesham (B) D.Brooks
Division 1 Tarbert 5 - 2 Kings Park Rangers AFC (B) A.Seymour

How do you mean Davie? is the Lochgilphead team a B team?

I would not be surprised if they were trying to keep the ARgyll teams out, it always seemed that way.

No.

However, the St Pats team are a B team and they can't progress to the Premier. I am sure even if the B team win the league the second placed team (if not a B team) doesn't get the chance to play off for a spot in the Premier (the play off is against the team who ends up bottom of Premier Division Two). Which when you think of it is crazy as the B team can play any players from the club's squad (A team players etc). So in essence the league could quite easily stop teams progressing because of B teams.

I am sure there was a motion at the start of the season for B teams to be disregarded but don't know how that went.

Certainly, on current form Red Star won't be far away.

No sign of lack of games with these boys as while hardly any official games have been played in the last three months they have the facilities to train and play friendlies unlike Campbeltown which is left in the dark ages yet again!!!

Thank you for that Davie.

yes, it is quite amazing now how there are a huge number of new facilities, and instances of funding committed to new facilities, appearing in rural communities all over Scotland, yet very very little in Campbeltown, which must be regarded as a hot bed of football and other sports too.

That match reported in the Courier on Friday between the young C/town team and Lochgilphead Wanderers must have been played under floodlights and on an all weather pitch.........will we EVER see such facilities in South Kintyre? I'm not sure we will :?

Boys went down 2-1 to East Kilbride today which leaves the Boys rooted to the bottom of the SAFL Second Division. The Boys now have 7 games left to avoid relegation with 5 at home and 2 away.

Leage table can be seen at

Pupils game was called off yesterday and means the Campbeltown side have now only played two games in nearly 4 months.

Amazingly both local teams played at the weekend - unfortunately having only played 2 games in four months for boths sides took its toll as both the Pupils and Boys lost.

This week the Pupils are again on their travels away to Eaglesham, a team who they have done very well against in recent years. Massive game for the Pupils in their bid to return to the Premier Division as Eaglesham are only two points behind in the promotion battle.

The Boys are at home again - this week to Rolls Royce EK. Game on Kinloch with a 2.30pm kick off. Another vital game which the Boys have to win to avoid a play off for relegation.

The Boys game is now at Meadows. Kinloch is a mess after the game last night so the council have gone out this morning to line Meadows for us. Well played them 8) Still a 2.30pm kick off.

Good result for the Pupils today as they won 3-1 away to Easglesham.

Boys couldn't maintain their fine form after beating league leaders Castlemilk last week when the crashed 5-2 at home to Renfrew side Arkleston. Photos to follow.
