BOWLS - Denny BC Visit Stronvaar in Scottish Top Ten

Postby oorly gourlay » Fri May 06, 2005 8:35 pm

Denny BC travel to Campbeltown on Sunday 15th May to take on Stronvaar in the first round of the national Top Ten competition. The visitors are bringing a travelling support of around 80 and the local club hopes to match this with a large home support of their own. The team has been practising in all weathers and have played a couple of friendlies with Tarbert BC to hone a competitive edge. Selector Robert Hendrie may start with the team that won the county final against Argyll BC last season including himself, John McLean, Jimmy Anderson, Gary Anderson, Archie Johnston, David Brown, John McCormick, Dugie Graham, Steven Dickson and Willie Munro, not too many old guys there then. If the match is half as exciting and has an atmosphere as tense as last year's final then the spectators are in for a real treat. Yes, believe it or not, bowls can be exciting especially in this format. Kick off around 1.00pm, come and see for yourself.

Super post and great to see this event promoted!

That's the thing that most people probably don't realise, can anyone just turn up and watch? Can they use the facilities etc?

Is this Denny in Stirling or Dumbarton?

Anyway, good luck and keep us informed and spread the word about this board.

It's Denny from Stirling and anyone can come along and watch although they would have to be guested into the clubhouse by a member which should not be a problem, Heavy £1.80, Lager £1.85 Drams £1.10. Is Denny, Dumbarton not just the name of a fitba' team? :?:
