Castlehill A deservedly retained the "Baldy Cup" tonight on a chilly Meadows Playing Fields. Six teams from local Primary Schools competed in the annual 7 aside competition - held in memory of Archie 'Baldy' McCallum who did so much himself for youth football throughout the years.
Castlehill fielded three sides; A,B and C while town neighbours Dalintober field two sides; A and B. The sixth side was made up of kids from the Rural schools; Southend, Drumlemble and Carradale
In a round robin league style giving each team 5 games, Castlehill A finished the evening unbeaten having won all of their 5 games - a well disciplined side who showed they play as a team and not as individuals. Credit must go to the Rural school team who won four of their games and were unlucky to go down 2-1 to Castlehill (special mention to their female coaches too! ). Castlehill B and C can take credit from the evening with the C side fielded boys from Primary 4 who aquitted themselves well. Dalintober A and B performed well on the evening and were a credit to their school and the on watching new Head Teacher, Miss Caroline Armour.
Congratulations to everyone and congratulations to Castlehill A - worthy winners!
