Postby Kintyre Forum News » Thu Feb 16, 2012 12:01 am

Football organisations in Campbeltown will host a Level 1 Early Touches coaching course in Campbeltown and are calling for anyone interested in attending the course to register.

The 6 hour course, running from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 4th March 2012, is open to all interested parties aged 16 and over, experienced or otherwise, who work with children of primary school age, 5 – 11 year olds. In addition to delivering new content, the course will assist coaches to develop their coaching technique, focus on skill development and will explore the best age specific activities for developing young players. The content emphasises skill development and fun in a variety of individual and group activities and the course will be coached by Martin Rae, Argyll & Bute Council’s Scottish FA Football Development Officer.

A minimum of 12 people are required to host the course and some current football coaches have already registered to attend and take the first step in the SFA’s three level pathway of “Working with Children”. The course is FREE and is run courtesy of the newly formed Campbeltown and District Community Football Club. (see the thread viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13480 for more information on the formation of the new club)

The Community Club are particularly keen to seek interest from anyone who is interested in coaching children now or in the future with an overall aim to provide qualified coaching courses for the SFA’s two strands of coaching – one aimed at Working with Children from 5 to 11 years old and one Working with Youth Players from 12 to 18 years old. The Development Group are also looking at coaching for the Adult Pathway and those involved in amateur football over 18 years old to ensure there is proper coaching qualifications from kids at 5 years old all the way through to adult football.

If interested in registering for the course on Sunday 4th March please contact Willie Renton on 07880744172.
