Kintyre ASC Club Championships
Kintyre Amateur Swimming Club held its Annual Club Championships at Aqualibrium on Sunday 13th November. The event was well attended with 39 swimmers age 7 to 17 taking part.

The first event was the 200m freestyle which saw Becky Dott finishing in first place in 2:36.72 with Ruth Semple (2:43.12) and Kirsten McLean (2:44.90) 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Shannyn Charlwood was in dominant form winning all four events in the 9 and under girls section. In the boys event in this age group Alex Campbell emerged as boys champion, also winning four events.

Dhyllon Cox secured four firsts on his way to securing the 10/11 year boys section. The girls event for this age group was very close with Ava McLatchie and Rhian McSporran achieving two golds each with Rhian emerging as overall winner on points.
Andrew Kay was the winner in the boys 12 years section. The same age group for girls produced some very close races between Emma Lazarus, Aimee McGougan, Caitlin Campbell and Becky Dott. Becky emerged the winner with 3 firsts in freestyle, breastroke and backstroke with Caitlin taking gold in butterfly.

The girls 13 years event saw Kirsten McLean claim 4 firsts with Mary Ann Wylie, Morgan Campbell, Kathyrn MacBrayne and Hannah McSporran producing determined swims resulting in close finishes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th places.

Frank Rochford and Steffan Cox battled it over all events in the 14 and over boys section with Frank claiming the title of club champion. Captain Ruth Semple matched Franks success winning the 14 and over title in the girls category.

Club Coach Stuart McQuaker said he was impressed by the determination and effort that was shown by the swimmers and that the hours of training undertaken showed in the results and times set.
Kintyre Amateur Swimming Club would like to thank all their sponsors, coaches and supporters for making the day a great success.

This has been a busy time for the Club as on Thursday a selection of swimmers travelled to Helensburgh to compete in the Scottish Schools Argyll & Bute Trials. Many swimmers produced PB’s and won medals. Consideration times for the finals were achieved by Rhian McSporran, (50m backstroke) Becky Dott, (100m & 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke) Kirsten McLean and Caitlin Campbell (100m butterfly).
