800m Competition for K.A.S.C

Kintyre Amateur Swimming Club held its inaugural 800m (32 lengths) open competition on Friday 21st October. There was a good turn out of swimmers with 18 entries for this event requiring 4 heats in total.
When the results were collated they showed the tremendous efforts of all the swimmers, ranging in age from 10 to 17, in an event that they have had little or no experience in.
In the girls event Becky Dott, dominating from the start, emerged the winner in an impressive time of 11min 50.31 sec, setting the club record for this event. Ruth Semple was placed 2nd with a time of 12min 05.62 sec and in 3rd place Kirsten McLean with a time of 12min 07.84sec.
Only one second covered the next 3 places with Aimee McGougan 4th in 12min 32.90sec, Emma Lazarus 5th with 12min 33.24 and Caitlin Campbell taking 6th place in 12min 33.86sec.
For the boys Andrew Kay came out on top with a time of 13min 15.80sec and Stefan Cox in 2nd place with 13min 32.74sec.
Club Coach Stuart McQuaker said the event was a great success and he was impressed by the swimmers determination.

The next event in the club's diary is the Annual Club Championship which will be held in Aqualibrium on 13th November.
