Scottish Amateur Football League - Premier Division One
Campbeltown Pupils AFC 2 v 2 Duncanrig FP
Campbeltown Pupils fight to avoid relegation to the second division of the SAFL Premier Division will go to the final game of the season after the local side could only gain one point from their final home game of the season.
Despite the heavy rain just at the start of the game a healthy crowd turned up to cheer on their local favourites. Gregor Croll gave the home side a slender lead at half time after the Pupils enjoyed the lions share of possession.
Despite the Pupils dominating for lengthy spells in the second half in was the visitors from East Kilbride who were to score and indeed take the lead shortly after. With 20 minutes of the second half Duncanrig stunned the local side and support with a sucker punch on the counter attack to make it 1-1 and shortly after made it 2-1.
All credit to the Pupils however, as the pressed for the equaliser and with 5 minutes remaining found it from a cracking left foot drive for top scorer Gary Grumoli.
A late rally was to prove fruitless and the Pupils will travel to Paisly next Saturday to play old rivals Carlton YM knowing that they need 1 point to secure Premier One status in a season that started off well but suffered a huge dip in form only to see the lads rally when needed in the final few games.
Best of luck to everyone next week!
