Pre Season Friendly, 31st July 2010, Kinloch Park
Campbeltown Pupils AFC 8 v 1 Tarbert AFC
4 goals in each half were enough to see a rampant Campbeltown Pupils win their first pre season match against fellow Scottish Amateur League and Kintyre side Tarbert.
Two penalties from Gary Grumoli added to Darren McGillvary's goal and ? gave the local side a 4-0 lead at half time. The second half continued as the first with the Pupils in command on a fine day on Kinloch Green. John McCallum, playing in his debut for Campbeltown Pupils since their amalgamation with Campbeltown Boys, scored a second half hat-trick to cap off a fine display from the athletic young midfielder. Gary Grumoli also got his hat-trick with the goal of the game. A fine display of counter attacking from a Tarbert corner saw the ball break to Paul Grumoli who calmly looked up to pick his younger brother out with a fine ball. The young forward made no mistake in running in before unleashing a venomous left footed strike. (see series of photos below which show the goal (and above banner)). Tarbert could only manage one reply from a second half penalty but both teams will welcome the match fitness with only three weeks before the season start.
Next Saturday, 7th August 2010, the Pupils will host Caley League side Dumbarton FPs two sides which will give both the Pupils sides a chance to gain some more vital pre-season fitness. Campbeltown Pupils B played their first game last night with a 2-1 over Kintyre Athletic.
