Carnasserie Castle and Ballymeanoch stones

Postby Crowth » Fri Feb 12, 2010 8:30 pm

Last Tuesday saw me in Oban with work. The weather was wonderful and I really enjoyed the drive both there and back. On the return journey I saw a chap at the side of the road with a tripod just north of Kilmartin, he was pointing his camera up at Carnasserie castle. This made me slightly envious as I had not thought to take my camera with me

A small way down the road, the stones at ballymeanoch looked fantastic contrasted against their surroundings by the low(ish) winter sun. Again I was kicking myself for not taking the camera along

!
I checked the forecast and found that the weather was going to be similar on Wednesday. With that in mind I took the camera to work with me. I finished work at lunchtime and drove back up to Kilmartin where I had a very enjoyable afternoon in the sunshine with the camera.

Really nice stuff Crowth. I particularly like the first of your B&W images.

Did you go up to the top of the castle?

I went up there maybe 4-5 years ago with some friends from America, and we took some stuff from the top. I need to check back and see if there's anything worth looking back at.

Yes I did. It's a bit of a climb up that narrow spiral stairway. While I was up there, my brother rang me from Leeds to tell me it was snowing again. I didn't have the heart to tell him what I was doing and about the weather I was doing it in
