spent last weekend in Islay helping to run the airshow that they do every year.
It has been running now for ten years & is funded by the Museum of Islay life with various charities from the island benefiting on the day.
Saturday was dreech to say the least but Sunday cleared up & was bright & sunny.
55 aircraft attended the event from military aircraft to wwII aircraft. 6 aircraft did aerobatic displays & parachuting by the Strathallen parachuters from Perth.
RAF Aldergrove Puma helicopter was a popular attraction & was first to arrive on Sunday.
BAE Hawk from 208 Squdron, RAF Valley, what a cool fly past on departure top gun
cessna sea plane, check out the registration, pretty appropriate for Islay
Caledonian chipmunks were there putting on a fine display as usual
Russian Yak, also now part of the chipmunk team
ME109 also part of the chipmunk line up, 3 of the aircraft were displayed by the same pilot, obviously not at the same time !!! this one for me was the best display of the day, it looks much better when flying.
Dai Heather-Hays & his pitts special
An SE5 replica, this was built in the guys back garden & took 4 years to build!
Strathallen parachuters put on a colourful display
& they even had a birthday cake!
