way out west....Tiree

Postby Buzz Lightyear » Fri Aug 10, 2007 11:53 pm

was at Tiree for a couple of days this week finalising plans for a runway re-surfacing job of its main runway.

Weather fantastic...as it always is, they regularly get the longest recorded days of sunshine for the UK :shock: :shock:

couple of pictures of the airport there, i will get more as the job progresses....europes 2nd biggest mobile tarring plant is on the island....logistacal nightmare but it it is there and will be laying 18000 tonnes of tarmac from the end opf August and is expected to take 3 weeks... :shock: yes 3 weeks.

Anyway tiree airport;

Welcome to tiree airport!

Have to disagree as all there is is a beach and sea.
Surely The Highlands, and the majesty of the glens make a bit of beach pale into insignificance?

I know I'll cry until my dying day has come
Let the Winter roll along
I've got nothing left but song

when yur stuck where I am a bit of beach & sea is like a piece of heaven, 'though I might have to agree with you Bill on the highlands, better discussion might be any "bad" bits, but I wont even start on that one. All in all from many different lands that ive seen, Scotland has nothing to be ashamed of.

It's this wide diversity that makes Scotland such a magnificent place. From the towering peaks to the sheltered glens, sweeping beaches, thick forests, shimmering lochs, hip-deep in history and packed with wildlife.
