last time i saw one of these was a couple of years ago at RAF Coningsby, home of the BBMF. the one i saw was 'Minnie the Moocher', the only flying lancaster in the UK, the other is in canada.
Now these guys know what dedication is, every part that moves on the aircraft is removed & serviced over the winter period, we were lucky when we were there as we got a 'behind the scenes' look round the hangar.
As you say Martin it is very humbling when you are up close to these old machines. i could not believe how little room are in these aircraft & how unprotected they really are.
i have the upmost repect for these old guys who flew these aircraft, even at that they were no more than kids when they did it, which makes it more humbling.
