Unfortunately not as nice as the usual pictures posted on here, but wondered if anyone knows what this is?

Looks like its been dead a while and the seagulls have been busy.

It was washed up near Muasdale this week and is about 4m in length? Some kind of whale?!

Hope this works - my first attempt at posting photo's on here!

Would agree with the look of the oic.

Did you report it by any chance Hels?

Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust for instance, may want to find out reason of death.

Cheers

Thanks for that folks.

Yeah, I reported it to the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust last night. By the looks of the wound on the head it might have been hit by a boat, but guess they can investigate if they want to. Thanks again

As "Hels" said not very nice, but thats nature for us. Took a trip up to see this mammal and by this time it was badly decomposed, but it was a Long Finned Pilot Whale. Unfortunately we would not be able to tell what happened to it. Sad end for some of these mammals of the ocean. We once had to remove a Minke Whale from Carradale Beach.

'tis a shame right enough! Although sometimes they beach themselves when they are sick, but I guess a necropsy was out of the question as it was so badly decomposed!

Sorry sight to see!
