A huge well done to the organisers of the first official Campbeltown Santa Dash that took place today! The event, originally to be held in December was cancelled due to the adverse weather but organisers decided to hold the event today and what a great turn out.

A real sense of community spirit with the organisers helped by the Young Farmers and Coastguard. The Dash started off at the Aqualibrium led by a Glenside Tractor. The energetic young ones set the pace racing to the cross leaving many behind but there was great laughter as the Santas raced up the Main Street to the top of Castlehill. Pit stop at the bottom of Ralston Road allowed the mums pushing prams to catch up and then it was off again up to Meadows Avenue and across to Tomaig Road before heading down on to Witchburn Road. Again, everyone re-grouped as they entered the Main Street for a second time and then headed up Longrow. The pace was just right for everyone to enjoy and the banter was great. Finally entering McCallum Street and heading back to the finish at the Aqualibrium the tractor raced off to allow aa sprint finish for a few who had the energy on a day when everyone was a winner!

Everyone received a medal at the end before retiring to the Mussel Ebb Cafe in the Aqualibrium for some well deserved hot and cold drinks and cakes!

Huge well done to the organisers, Aileen McLennan (Town Centre Manager), Jog Scotland and Lindsay Owen, the Active Schools Co-ordinater. (apologies if anyone is missed)

Great day with lots of happy, smiling familes. 8) Well done

Aologies for some of the blurred images, was too busy dashing about!

Great photos!

A huge thank-you to all of the Santas who turned up this morning to compete in Campbeltown's first ever Santa Dash. It was a great success with just over 40 santas competing despite the poor weather.

On completion of the dash, all of the Santas enjoyed a well deserved hot chocolate, tea or coffee. Thank you to the Mussel Ebb Bistro for the catering.

Thank-you to the Young Farmers, Coastgaurd and Jog Scotland volunteers who helped with stewarding and escort vehicles, your help was much appreciated.

Any feedback will be greatly received as we look into making the Santa Dash an annual event in Campbeltown.

Looks like a fun event, and congratulations to the local community on their "indefatigability" in holding the event in January. Same applies to my old primary school, Dalintober, on holding their concert in January and raising so much money!

There is a great community spirit in Kintyre! :D

Yip well done folks. I think Lindsay summed it all up on behalf of us all. Cannot thank all of you who turned out enough for being such great sports and entering into the spirit of things - just a "Great Wee Toon" right enough.
11 months till the next one 8)

I must also say a well done to all my wee companions -didnt those kids do well running just under two miles!!!!
