Like the idea of the long distance walk; but up for the relay again - and 4 weeks before the MOKrun so will fit into training schedules fine (assuming I have one by then).

l would liked to have put a competitive team in for this year but due to the date of the london marathon,it might not be possible. The reason being,l think that a team put together (not including me)from Campbeltown would have a good go at that record that is set.Maybe the year after,eh.

l would still like to have a team or two that would just like to run it,just like the Jog Scotlanders for the fun and craic you get out of it,plus it is your local race it needs the backing. So if anyone is interested in making a team up,let me know.

I am hoping to get 5 or 6 of the boys to run it DJD, 2 new faces to the running scene who are our secret weapons, and Darren, Niel John, and me, and hopefully 1 more. It also gets us out and training again through the winter months which is great, so yes, put us down for it.
4 months without training took its toll on me, it was really hard going on Tuesday night but great fun and good to see everyone again, I kept singing a song in my head all way round the course, it went like this,......Madness oh hoh ho....madness....they call it madness.

Good to hear that you have gathered a team together already Ninja, and your right you do need the winter training to build up to it.

You did well to do a hard run on your "come back trail",the other night.Hope you can make the final one,it should be a well worth watching.

DJD--are you saying our team won't be competitive!!!!!! :<>

I have an acquaintance, through my work, who is putting in a team, from the Borders. They are sure that they will beat the record. They are, how do I say it, ----really auld, but they are endurance runners and very experienced. In fact, only yesterday, I heard that they may be taking two teams, the second one full of young bucks who are confident that they will set a record that will be very hard to beat.

'Mon the toonies.

Rab,no doubt they will beat the record because it is a young record and what l mean by that is that the race has only been going a few years now and teams were far and few between each year. Now that Motherwell had been featured in MY Race, they have sort of thrown down the gauntlet.

Like l said befor a Campbeltown team could beat the lastest record quite comfortably, but once the field starts to widen and the numbers swell, then you start to realise that there is some real racing snakes out there.

l 'm sure the border team will set a record for the KWR or they might have to go back home with their own record for the race, you just don't know who will turn up and what happens on the day.

We will enjoy our competition amongst ourselves and with all the local teams that are entering,ie Our team,Ninja's Team,Jog Scotlands 1 or 2 teams (hopefully one or two more) then it will be set for a great day,no matter the result among us.

Who's to say with the youngsters now that are around here, would be a force to reckon with if they got together and trained for it.(local advantage would be on their side)

It looks like KWR will be now be on the map of races, which is great.

D.p there is always room for another runner, at the moment we have 7, but 2 of them are only maybe's, so if you want to come into our fun run team then that would be great, worst case is that you double up on a leg as DJD said on another thread.
If that is what you need to motivate you off the couch and onto the street then thats ok, or you could get together with some off your mates and enter your own team, now there's an idea. It really is a fantastic days running so long as you have prepared properly for it. Also there is a nice wee easy 6 mile section from Carradale to Saddel  you would manage, just watch out for old crooch, Torrisdale brae and Saddel mountain, treat them with respect cause after the shore run, they take no prisoners.

Does anyone know when we register for this event?

Rab he is only using his words carefully, he knows your team is in with a good shout for a record, so long as you all stay injury free.
DJD is the original Kick Butt Captain... :)
Did'nt want to say Kick Ass Captain, although it does have a certain ring to it.
