Dave King running for Hampshire Autistic Society

Postby MOKRUN 2007 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 3:45 pm

Read about Dave King who's running the MOKRUN as part of a year of running round the UK. http://www.has.org.uk/running.htm

He's got to be in Battersea Park by noon the next day for a 5k race, but will still try and get him along to the ceilidh!!

"MOST sensible folk will be spending their Sunday mornings grabbing a lie-in - or ignoring the children if they're up early watching CBeebies!

Well, for Dave King, Sunday lie-ins are a distant memory in 2007 as he sets out on an amazing running project in aid of the Hampshire Autistic Society.

"Running Is A Mug's Game" is a 12-month journey which sees Dave taking part in around 80 races around the British Isles.

Got this e-mail from Dave today

"Happy New Year!

My apologies for the round robin nature of the e-mail, but so many people have asked me when is the book coming out, that I thought I would go for this catch-all approach.

"Around the British Isles in 80 Races" (AuthorHouse) is out now. It is the story of my charity run around the country during 2007, when I clocked up more than 730 running miles and 21,000 travelling miles.

The book is being officially launched at the House of Commons on Monday, January 19th, and there is a south coast launch with a book-signing at WestQuay in Southampton on Friday, January 17th from 10am to 4pm. Matt Le Tissier, Claus Lundekvam, and Steve Power have confirmed they will be along to support.

All the profits from the book will be going to the Hampshire Autistic Society. The way royalties go, that's not a huge amount - but hey, look at JK Rowling.

If you can support the society and grab a copy of the book - they make ideal doorstops, window insulation, the perfect gadget to prop up a leaning object, and from a reading point of view it's cheaper than a regular prescription to cure insomnia - then that would be fantastic.

The book is available from AuthorHouse: http://www.authorhouse.co.uk/BookStore/ ... 50708.aspx

You can also get the book from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Around-British- ... 871&sr=8-1

Waterstones:
http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesw ... ku=6534904

Barnes & Noble:
http://books.barnesandnoble.com/search/ ... s+80+races

...and at most car boot sales!

Thanks to everyone for their support towards the project which proved extremely worthwhile.

Have a great 2009.

Dave."
