Mull of Kintyre half marathon makes UK Top 100 race list

Postby Tarbert Mags » Tue Jan 09, 2007 4:59 pm

Thought you'd like to know that the MOKRUN half marathon is a new entry at number 87 in the Runner's World top 100 races of the year in their February 2007 magazine.

The magazine states that "our top 100 is a subjective list - we've scored races based on our impression of criteria such as the quality of its organisation; the appeal of the course for personal best potential or challenge; if it offers any unique or special flavour; its value for money and the quality of competition - but we've also given a weighting to how the race is regarded by you, the runner".

The half also gets a mention under "Best Hidden Gems" where it states "These races received fewer than 15 votes on www.runnersworld.co.uk but that didn't stop them scoring a perfect 100 per cent from runners who would do the race again"

Looks like the event is a UK hit - I think you might get a few more entries with publicity like that - well done!

Tarbert Mags

We had spotted the entry in Runner's World and are delighted by it, thanks for further publicising it!

Had we had 15 votes in the "Runner's Choice" section rather than just 13 we would have appeared high in the list of runners' favourite races UK wide. As it was we were the top event out of the 366 UK wide events which had less than 15 ratings.
We would certainly encourage entrants to give us a rating on Runner's World after the 2007 event.

Look out for an update on all of this soon on the "latest news" section of the webpage.

Cheers and good luck with the training!
