Campbeltown and Machrihanish canal

Postby nimps » Wed Oct 15, 2008 3:16 pm

Hello
Does anyone have a map of the route the canal took? Or can anyone describe the route - I gather it came out more or less at where the County Garage is but didn't actually reach the sea. Any info would be great. Ta!

Try http://www.kintyremag.co.uk
It will state that the site has closed, but if you go in to the archive for February 1999 you will find an article by John R.E.Cormack which may answer your question. :)

That's brilliant - just what I needed thanks! Now I can draw up my own map.

Little bit more information. In a guide to Kintyre written by Norman Newton, there is a brief section about the canal. It states that the canal terminated at the north end of Glebe Street, near to the gas works.
