The Robbers Tree

Postby petewick » Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:50 am

About half way down the avenue to Saddell Castle there is a mature tree
on the right hand side known as the Robbers Tree.
According to mum who was brought up in the village it is so called because a fugitive from the law hid
in it many years ago.
Anyone got any idea who the "robber" was and if he was ever caught?

Could the Robber, hiding at Saddell, be the same Robber Ian Bhan supposedly took the dagger from, in a confrontation "up the shore" in Carradale.?I don't know if this happened before or after he ran barefoot to Inverary. What a man!!
