I found this interesting article on the Historic Kintyre website at

http://www.campbeltownloch.com/readarti ... ticle_id=2

Until recently I was unaware that the original trees on Kinloch Park were named after local councilors and dignitaries of the time. Below is a list dated 4th March 1879 stating the names and the order starting at Lochend Bridge.

4th March 1879
Trees planted Kinloch Park, beginning at Lochend Bridge

No 1. Provost Greenlees
No 2. Baillie McEachran
No 3. Baillie Hunter
No 4. Dean Colville
No 5. Ex Dean Brown
No 6. Treasurer John Greenlees
No 7. Councillor John Ralston
No 8. Ex Dean Stewart
No 9. Councillor James McPherson
No 10. Councillor John Brown
No 11. John Marshal
No 12. John Murray
No 13. Angus McDonald
No 14. Councillor Dr Cunningham
No 15 Charles Mactaggart Esq.
No 16. John McKersie
No 17. Councillor Robert Harvey
No 18. Councillor James Dunlop
No 19. Councillor Charles McEachran
No 20. Councillor William Rae

I would like to thank Jeanette Brodie for supplying this list.

Jeanette - you have so many interesting photos and facts from years ago.
