I've found pictures of the pit workings, where exactly is it? what direction did the mines go? Is there anything left today?

The site is now a Caravan park: http://www.campkintyre.com/

Some info on the link with the Machrihanish to Campbeltown Railway here: http://www.machrihanish.net/Machrihanish_railway.html

Remember visiting the mine when I was very young with my father, who like most of the men in the village, worked there.

The Tartan Kirk (Campbeltown Heritage Centre ) has some nice pictures and info, don't know if they have a website? Maybe Davie P or one of the other's on here can help!!

You will probably also find articles from the excellent Kintyre Mag: http://www.kintyremag.co.uk/

Hope this helps.
