We need a bit of help on this one. Has anyone got any idea what the occasion was and when?

I have seen this pic before somewhere?

I think it may have been on a video about all the photos that the McGrory brother's took of Campbeltown.

I seem to think it was something about a special set of gas lights erected when coalgas first was used in Campbeltown.

Malky

It was taken by the McGrory brothers in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee and as Jan has said the whole structure was lit entirely by gas.

Thanks jeanette 8)

We knew the bit about the gas display but didn't know the occasion and when.

You're a gem

We're getting low on photos to add to the site - anyone got any?

Anyone want to have a go at naming these local heroes and the year? There's one or two we're not sure of.
