Kirk Street in 1920

Postby raherd » Mon Feb 01, 2016 4:00 pm

Does anyone have any information on the configuration of house numbers at the Main Street end of Kirk Street, Campbeltown in 1920? I have reason to believe that Masataka Taketsuru rented the top flat at 9, Kirk Street with his wife Rita in the spring/early summer of 1920 and would like to find some proof of this. It may be that the numbering of flats was different then, but the location is about right going by his own notes. The Valuation Roll does not seem to contain any clue about who lived at 9, Kirk Street then or who owned the property then.

Hi there ! 9 Kirk street was James Mackay's hairdressers ; so it would have had a flat above. There was also a flat above Charlie McFadgen's barber shop two doors down. Kind regards, Kirk.
