New Decimal Money!

Postby Annie » Sun Apr 23, 2006 8:25 pm

I just read this article on line at the Scotsman website! Can you remember when this happened too?

FACT OF THE DAY

The first decimal coins were introduced in the United Kingdom on this day in 1968. The new five and ten pence coins were designed to correspond both in size and value to the shillings and florins they would eventually replace when full decimalisation came into effect in 1971.
