Low Askomil gateway

Postby amron » Sun Apr 23, 2006 4:33 pm

I took this picture along Low Askomil today.
I remember being told a story about it years ago but I can not remember what it was.
Does anybody know :?:

:D :D
I knew it was a gateway.
It was the writing or drawings around it that I was on about. :D
It was a message or something.

It's in an owld language thats no heard much thays days am afraid. It died oot in the seeventeenth century an altho its hellish bonny tae see written doon, it wis hoorafa coorse tae listen tae.

Anyway, back tae the writing, which yi read ar$e for elba:

Below this arch there is a gate and ye may pass through without hindrance and will be made welcome if you are true in spirit.
If however ye are in any way unsound, thine bahoochy will be severely kicked and you will be in great pain for many days.

Thats aboot it word for word. If its wrang yi can blame Old Pop, cos hees the wan that telt me hoot it said..

I bet he's never gone through it

That is an interesting gate, by the way. Look forward to hearing the REAL story behind the gate and where the path led.

Gate?

Postby Annie » Sun Apr 23, 2006 7:41 pm

It looks like a lot of lava rock imported from Hawaii to me!!!!!!!!!!

It also looks like it has been cut into the wall as a gateway to someone's garden, or a wee shortcut for the residents!

I have been up and down every inch of Low Askomil as a wean, and don't recall every seeing it; however, I do remember a part of the Low Askomil wall that had a big white piece of stone in it that looked like a big white cat sitting and looking to your right!

They call it the Spitting Cat! See other posts!

Kinda like amron's Avatar - hahaha!Image

Funny the crap you remember - huh![img]
