Bordadubh

Was up round the Lussa Loch today, visited the sight where Bordadubh once stood. Many happy memories
of the place.
It still puzzles me why it was demolished, especially with the Kintyre Way in such close proximity, as well as the potential
of it being used as a satelite to the bunkhouse in Campbeltown.

I don't think I've asked about this before. Right at the far end of Lussa I have a dim and distant memory of a large construction, I don't know what it was, but I keep hearing the words "Thompson's Folly" in connection with it. Could be I'm getting confused with something else. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about as I haven't a clue.

Never heard of that one Martin, all that's up that way is the old sheep
fanks and th Stramolloch ruin further down on the far side of the loch.
I think the bungalow next to Corrylach was owned at one time by someone
called Thompson?

I've been doing some thinking and I reckon the "Thompson's Folly" was maybe a big old barn like structure made out of metal.
You're correct about the bungalow being owned by a Thompson, I plainly remember hearing that, maybe the construction I'm thinking of had something to do with that family. Please keep in mind that these are the memories of a small boy, but I still try to piece together things that I heard (intentionally or not) . I remember going up the far end of Lussa in a landrover with Mr. Charlie Laing and seeing this big construction, I just can't see it properly in my memories.
I'm thinking just now of Mr. Laing keeping what I remember as being called "Hill Coos" around that area and him referring to one of the beasts as "The Blue Grey". It doesn't make that much sense to me now, just snippets that have stuck with me.

Wait now, as you cross the bridge over the wee burn at the head of the loch and turn left towards
Collusca there's a barn like shed.
We knew it as Strangs shed as Mr Strang of Gobagrennan worked for the Forestry Commission and kept
some work vehicles there.

I remember the Strangs living in what I heard referred to as "The Forestry Commission House".

Just before the dam on the left, Mr Strang is still there.
