I certainly recall the pipe band playing in the "bandstand". Sadly though I don't remember why.

If you mean they played at the arena at the New Quay Head, then I know that this was an arrangement which was in place for a while and was an alternative venue for the regular Saturday night appearances which prior to and since then have taken place in the Main Street.

I did mean the "bandstand/boxing ring" at the paddling pool .

The reason for the pipe band playing there was possibly to do with the sea cadets having an open day.

I looked on street view last night but couldnt see the rings on the wall, I remember my dad pointing them out to me when I was wee.
However I found this old map on-line..

If this works it does show the shoreline up to Shore Street and indeed up to the Manse House wall
Does anyone have any decent links to old maps, I had a few years ago but cant find them now.
If anyone is down that way could they have a wee look and see if there is any evidence of the rings left.

I must confess to not having been aware that the land between the two quays and Shore Street had been reclaimed.
