He was indeed. He came to Campbeltown one year in the early 1980s as a special guest to present the annual Citizen of the Year awards in the Victoria Hall.

What a find, I have saved these to watch later. I see the Victoria hall is mentioned in the last posting, my dad Bill Adams used to play in the 50' and early 60's in the local dance band every weekend and I used to go and watch from upstairs (as I should not have been allowed in) and watch my dad and all the dancers. My mum, Betty Adams, her sister Nessie and mother Agnes used to dance all night and then decide to have a drink back at our place in Ralston Road. It was nothing to have about a dozen or so people come back for a wee drink and a sing song. Great days.
