Birmingham couple jailed for starving Khyra Ishaq

Might just get 6 years? - this mother should never be allowed out.

"Mr Justice Roderick Evans told the pair their behaviour was "chilling in its harshness and cruelty".

Death penalty, I'll do it - not vengeance, but we just don't need people like this around.

You wouldn't get the chance Tom,as I would be first in line to do the honours. As past threads will tell you,I am a great believer in capital punishment.

So what difference would that make ? I will tell you . The sheer horror and suffering of that poor poor girl, would stir feelings, even in the most cold heart individual. Even with the advantage of looking at things, in the cold light of day.
Good judgment can only be formed, minus those feelings, generated in the heat of the moment, and undoubtedly revengeful - by there very nature. So why bother, the nature of the crime can never fully justify, capital punishment.

As a firm beliver in the death penalty or true life behind bars( with hard labour) I would starve them to death, no food for 2 weeks then all they can eat for 2 days, no food for 3 weeks then food for 3 days and on until they knew what type of suffering these insignificant B%&#%!ds had wrought on that innocent life.....

That was the British policy in Ireland. It never worked then, and will never work in the future. I wonder how many Christians, would be prepared to break, one of the more important commandments. Thou Shall Not Kill.

I personally do not approve of capital punishment myself Ionns but I still found it abhorrent that you chose to attack Tom rather than the shocking story told on this thread. Sorry but THAT was the scariest thing here! Sometimes I feel you try to support the wrong people in your fight for justice SO can I ask please? What punishment do you think this couple should receive?

As I indicated previously, I did not read the story, although it would be fare to say that, I know of it.
I tell you what I find scary, on Tom's flimsy basis " that we don't need people like that around " While we are at it, since when did the criminal justice system's primary ethos, exclude rehabilitation and focus on punishment only ?

So you are saying it is acceptable to have these people about? And are you SERIOUS that these animals should be given a rehabilitation service? Who's going to pay for that then? Oh, sorry, people like me, out of my taxes . . .

Nope, it's punishment for me and a hard one at that for criminals like these two.

"First they came ..." is a popular poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group. In Niemöller's first utterance of it, in a January 6, 1946 speech before representatives of the Confessing Church in Frankfurt, it went (in German):[1]

"THEY CAME FIRST for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

THEN THEY CAME for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

THEN THEY CAME for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.

THEN THEY CAME for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

I'm surprised about that ! I'm very sure that the poem would refer to a time when people like you, me and everyone else listened to the news ... and acted accordingly. (Don't get me wrong, this particular story is horrible) ... however, let me update the work ....

"THEY CAME FIRST for the Paeophiles,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Paedophile.

THEN THEY CAME for the Muslims,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Muslim.

THEN THEY CAME for the Corrupt Politicians,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Corrupt Politician.

THEN THEY CAME for the Terrorists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn't a Terrorist.

THEN THEY CAME for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

There are regular people on this thread expressing that they would have no problem taking another human life !
Yet, that appears to have passed without comment.

Unbelievable.
