I must say a big thanks to everyone - I didn't realise that incests caused so much distress - I'd forgotten all about those fleabites and swelling red spots of my childhood. I had considered a similar strategy - to that suggested by Blueboyno1, leaving a jam sandwich out overnight - and removing it outside the following morning. Unfortunately there was no ants to be found in my special piece. The vinegar spray was another positive suggestion thanks lass. Well it's been Four days since I decided on the final solution and so far so good - no ants - however if they happen to return - I remain adamAnt to use a non killing method.

My Aunty used to get ants in her house when she lived here, she got some spray stuff that you sprayed were you thought they were getting in and they stopped.

Great stuff, you should try that.

I sprayed some of that spray stuff that you spray on things on some ants once. Didn't stop them. They smelled a lot better, though.

You gotta be careful when dealing with ants. Some of them can spontaneously combust. We noticed this as kids, when examining them under a magnifying glass.

Its funny because after leaving my post on this thread the last time, I spotted an ant scurrying across my bedroom floor.
I soon sorted him out though. I bashed his head in with my SkyTV remote .
