What's this all about? :<> No wonder the prisons are overcrowded!

I couldn't believe this was real when I heard it on the news! Incredible!

Wikipedia wrote:"Totalitarianism (or totalitarian rule) is a concept used to describe political systems whereby a state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private life. Totalitarian regimes or movements maintain themselves in political power by means of an official all-embracing ideology and propaganda disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that controls the state, personality cults, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of free discussion and criticism, the use of mass surveillance, and widespread use of state terrorism."

This country in now awash with career politicians, paper pushers, & officious control freaks.
There is surveilance, monitoring & regulation of every aspect of life.

And the majority of us are saying NOTHING

The next time anyone on here is passing a war memorial ... have a good look .... and think about what it means.
Those people named on it, made the ultimate sacrifice (ie.gave their life) so that YOU didn't have to live like that.

What have YOU done lately to ensure your own children & grandchildren don't ?

Oddly, I have been thinking along these lines more and more of late. There has been an insidious movement in this country over a number of years whereby the state is managing our lives and using technology to control our freedoms, rather than to bring us benefits. There are more and more fixed penalties for all sorts of things, that we didn't have before, which is a surreptitious way of the state collecting more of our resources. Is our way of life in this country improving? Is it Hell!

Assuming you are an average person :-

You are taxed & national insuranced. (there's over a third of your wage gone)
You have to buy things (15% VAT)
If you drive, drink or smoke, (there's HUGE amounts of duty)
You may invest in a private pension (beware. you will be taxed on it (assuming the pension fund still exists when you retire))

Here's where it gets clever.

You have a mortgage, or you just want to save the rest. (3 guesses who now has a controlling interest in most of the banks)

You think you can invest offshore (look what happened to Iceland & the outcome of G20 is that there is now globally nowhere to stash your cash)

If you do make it to retirement & need care (any savings or property you still have will be taken from you)

Think you might have missed that one, if I don't have sex then I don't have children, thus I also cannot have grandchildren ergo ensuring that they don't go through whatever it is that you're on about. (didn't read the link, and can't be bothered to just now either).

Here is the sequel to this story. It appears that she lost the appeal.
