Oh, I know you are terse about modern verse
But I'd like to allay your concern,
For if you think, even Burns used his ink
on poems considered 'moderne'
So I suggest next time that you wish to rhyme,
You at least consider a change,
And be more expressive, by going progressive -
You might find it is not all that strange! :D
Blow away the dreams that tear you apart
Blow away the dreams that break your heart
Blow away the lies that leave you nothing but lost and brokenhearted

His stanzas, forms and geometries lack subtlety and finesse,
The forum scrutineers, he will always fail to impress,
Rogers attempts at verse are considered somewhat of a farce,
In fact, I could do better talking through my.....

Then I realised poetry is not my strong point either

Forgive me if I grump an' moan, or sound a little terse,
Is "Current Affairs" suitable to place the written verse?
Confusion reigns, I must confess, to all upon this thread,
The Mods so wise, they should advise, where place these lines well read? :?

The present day name it is Current Affairs, ,
But it used to be called Speakers Corner.
And it went along fine for a number of years,
Until some of us stepped o'er the border,

And then it was banned for the registered few,
And restrictions were put into place,
Until they saw sense and it opened agaIn,
But it's now an unconscionable case.

I do agree that this thread should be somewhere other than "Current Affairs". Maybe this will be addressed.

Chit Chat ? or House o' Fun? I'm sure you will agree,
Would better serve the purpose, of the pen o' you an' me.
Where we will verse till he'rt content, wi' odes we shall convey,
And leave the topic "Current Affairs", to World matters of the day!!! :D

Although with your feelings I must concur
I have to say I'd much prefer
To move this thread (if it must!)
To something other than discussed.

I feel we ought to be meticulous -
House of Fun would be ridiculous!
Let's give our efforts some respect,
'Gravitas' for the right effect?

And Chit Chat? Really? Are you sure?
It doesn't conjure up allure,
Far too cosy and genteel!
But Speakers Corner was ideal! :D

My Poetic skill is sadly lacking.
I hope that you will give me backing.
A new section,re-name the former.
Why not call it "Poet`s Corner"?

Crowth stood outside the Chippy,
Eating red hot Scallops,
One went down his trouser legs,
And badly burned his.....ankle.

Roger stood on the burning deck,
And cried 'Lord, I hope they've seen us!',
For there were no fire extinguishers,
So he made do with the First Mates ..............

.......curse this writers block.

Can't explain this ache within my heart, as I search for you today,
It was I, whom made us part, you can't be far away,
I've searched for you o'er mountain I've combed the sandy beach,
As I gaze t'ward the Atlantic, your still outwith my reach!

You had the power to change my life, and oh! I loved you so,
Why did I let you wander, Where are you? I don't know!
You could have gave me everything, never wanted that's for sure,
In my foolishness I lost you, Destined always to be poor!

Never shown you any wrong,I tried to care for thee,
You filled me with much gladness, why suddenly now leave me?
Can't rest, nor sleep, I'm all aglee, can't even face my dinner,
For I've lost my bloody lotto slip, An' the numbers were a winner!!!!
