Shocking news. No matter what you thought of him, you would surely loved to have had him as your Union Leader!

A tireless fighter for the men and women of the RMT. He may have been portrayed as a unreconstructed leftie, but he was a savvy negotiator and knew when to agree a deal.

Bob Crow's members were the last working class people in London whe earned anything approaching a decent wage.He was an amazing man, the way he withstood the attacks on him by the establishment, the press and particularily the Daily Mail.

Lochend, so right, the right wing press and Murdoch tried to destroy him. He was one of the last true Socialists. As workers' rights are now being decimated daily, he was also one of the last Greats of the Trades Union Movement. And although I sometimes disagreed with some of his ways, the world is a poorer place without great leaders to stand up for the working classes. Who is around now that actually frighten politicians? That's the tragedy. :(

RIP Bob,a true working class hero and a far better man than he was made out to be.Many of us recognised your true worth, and felt ourselves lesser men because of it.Respect is due as you were never afraid to stand up and be counted, nor cowed by those who lied bare faced about your aims. Those political pigmys, whose weasel words are worth nothing, can only dream of garnering the sort of loyalty you inspired.Goodnight Bob you were one of the good guys.

May be a hard to replace for the R.M.T. Workers. He was not an Arthur Scargill character he was a very clever negotiator and always had the good sense and foresight to pull out with the best deal for his workers. That's what he was paid for. London tube drivers are on a £52,000 a year wage. I remember him on Question Time not that long ago, an historian told him he was disrupting the ordinary working man by calling lightning strikes on the London underground yet he never lost any of his £145,000 a year wage his reply...' Your quite correct its at times like this I earn what I am paid to do look after my members best interest'. Like him or not, he stood for what he believed in and worked for his union's members interests one of the last remaining flat cap British working mans union leader and a great speaker and character. However, only in the UK can an avowed Communist speak his mind in total freedom - and call a strike. May not though be missed by the passengers on the Tube....Still, only 52 far too young to die R.I.P......

No wish to offend, just stating another view.
