ANZAC Day / WW1

Postby Govangirl » Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:36 pm

I was very impressed with the commemoration of ANZAC Day in Australia and NZ particularly as I have a relative who died at Gallipoli at the age of 19. What struck me most though was how many people - especially young people - thronged the streets. Many of these young folk really had a great knowledge of the contribution and sacrifice of their fellow countrymen and it doesn't seem to be the same here. Is it because History is not a priority on our curriculum? Why is it? And does anyone know if there is going to be any big WW1 centenary events next year?

Blow away the dreams that break your heart
Blow away the lies that leave you nothing but lost and brokenhearted
