Oh how he squirmed

Postby odds » Mon Mar 25, 2013 3:18 am

This is how ALL interviews with politicians should be conducted, no pre arranged questions and answers to suit the politicians public image ...... This is superb and just goes to show what a bunch of w***ers this lot really are !!!!

Watch and enjoy !

Never understood the appeal - nasty piece of work. Round of applause to Eddie.

Agree totally with you Shona.Eddie Mair is a superb interrogator.Heard him a lot on P.M.on Radio 4.Paxman gets his message across by shouting.Mair is quietly spoken but very clever.

I think Mair is smug in the extreme on his PM show on R4 but this interview was quite brilliant and I certainly want to see more politicians given biting, probing tough questions and held to account. However, I did not like the "You're a nasty piece of work, aren't you?" comment. I believe that was unprofessional and actually if an interviewer asks good questions and provides the facts, I can make up my own mind about them. I KNOW what I think about Boris but I can see it for myself and don't need the tabloid-like accusations to help me along! In my opinion, this affected Mair's integrity as I've heard him do before. Maybe I'm being pedantic but I feel that one question spoiled it. And that's not sticking up for the buffoon btw!!!!!!!

I tend to agree with Govangirl.Although these politicians should not get an easy ride, the inqusitors do not often come out of the confrontations very well. Mair's "you are a nasty piece of work arent you" exposed himself to the accusation of it being personal and took away the foothold he had on the moral high ground. Some of these people are just bullies, particularily Paxman, who is isually dumped ceremoniously on his a..e when confronted by the likes of Galloway.

Some of them don't take it very well. The one that I remember is Sir Robin Day interviewing John Nott, and here it is on You Tube:

The "Nasty piece of work" comment was said to shake Boris in my opinion.I think that there have been too many skeletons in the cupboard historically so I found this interview technique refreshing.I do not find Mair as a smug individual, just good at his job.

Given a choice between Boris Johnson and Alec Salmond ?No contest! Boris every time.

His description of Teflon Tony was classic.................

"It is just flipping unbelievable. He is a mixture of Harry Houdini and a greased piglet. He is barely human in his elusiveness. Nailing Blair is like trying to pin jelly to a wall."
