Latest food scare

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that this has been going on for years and has only been found by chance and now the are making a right fuss over it.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21302925

"In a statement, Mr Wright said the Prison Service was investigating the incident "as a matter of urgency".

He added: "This is an absolutely unacceptable situation and one which we regret greatly.

"Clearly this must be distressing for those affected and they can be reassured we are doing everything we can to resolve the situation."

Point1: Why are the Prison Services Investigating it, surely it should be the FSA, the department that is funded by the government to regulate these establishments.

Point 2: Is it really that distressing to have eaten a bit of non Halal meat, are they all going to need counselling now, compensation from the government for allowing such a breach of human rights ?
This has probably been going on for years and yet nobody has died through it or been condemned to a life in hell because they had broken some form of religious rule.

Is it really such a big issue ?

Pete.

Food scare my arse!

Never mind Halal! Have any Jews complained about the menu?

Maybe they're not so liable to finish up in the jile!

Am I being racist? Nah, I don't think so. I think I'm stating the bloody obvious.

Taking this further on, do we have to cater for every religion and belief? For example does this mean that we have to cater for Hidus as well, as they don't eat coos? Where would it end?

Maybe a menu should be provided by the judge before sentencing, so that any preferences can be expressed at that stage? The judge could take details of any dietary requirements and pass it on to the Jile! Aye right!

Geezo, you canna get that at a hotel!

Are we completely droll in this country? Ah think we urr!

Wid breid an watter fit their religious strictures?

If any of the criminals affected by this ''scare'', complain or try to claim compensation on the grounds that their beliefs or rights have been violated, then they should be politely reminded that the very reason that they are behind bars is because they have already ignored and violated someone elses rights.

Firstly, as an aside, isn't EMDEE getting more outspoken as he gets older?

Secondly, he's right!

Lastly, Giantredwood, it is a sad indictment of modern life that your statement is so accurate but sadly, it is always the victim that is at the bottom of society's heap and the quicker we learn that the better. Time and time again, the 'rights of the individual' come first and criminal offenders are treated better by the system than are the victims of crime. :(

As far as human rights are concerned, they make no distinction between victim and offender, and nor should they.......
It's a wee bit like saying that the benefit system is so generous, there's no need to work. When the reality of the matter is, wages are too low....... ( catch my drift )

EMDEE..... Yes I noticed..... although the term crabbit.. sprang tae mind... before outspoken
