Murray was fantastic today, is it too much to hope for a double? Go Andy!!!

Must be very frustrating.Six weeks holiday and no-one to shout at.

The performance and attitude of Team GB has reminded me of the Kipling quote: "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two imposters just the same". No displays of arrogance or strutting prior to their events just quiet confidence and belief in their ability to go and do their best. Some of the performances in the velodrome have been awesome. Good luck to Sir Chris today!!
PS: and before Roger says it, I know he also made exceedingly good cakes!!

It has been a great two weeks entertainment with much success for Team GB. (What is the position of Northern Ireland in that name?)

One "sport" that troubles me, and probably many others, is Boxing. How can this activity be described as a "sport" when the main object of the contest is to punch someone else's lights out? Let's face facts, the most successful boxers are the ones who do most physical damage to their opponent. Is this really appropriate behaviour in a so-called civilised society, and should it be condoned by allowing it to have the status of being an Olympic sport? It has long been established that it can cause long-term brain damage.

They've even got women doing it now! :<>

If you punch someone's lights out at the Olympics you can get a medal, but if you do it in Main Street on a Saturday night with a willing co-participant you could possibly get a jail sentence.

Strange.

We were discussing this on another forum recently and decided that the following should be removed from the games....

Badminton
Beach Volleyball
Boxing
Cycling - BMX
Cycling - Mountain Bike
Gymnastics - Rhythmic
Synchronized Swimming
Trampoline
Water Polo
Football

To make it worse, Golf is being included in future, a friend of mine always says, Golf = a good walk spoilt. I bet that's upset someone.

BTW EMDEE, you may be a "civilised society" in the new sanitised Scotland, but out here in the rest of the world it's a bloody jungle.
Ouch !

That quote was first said by Mark Twain more than a hundred years ago. Still applies today :)
