Who will decide who's oil it is?

Postby Tom B » Tue Jan 24, 2012 10:17 am

If the Scottish and UK Governments can't agree who is due the revenue from north sea oil, who will decide? The Courts? - and if the courts can't agree - will it be the European court?

Some say 90% is Scotlands (based on continental shelf)
Some say 50% ("Two equal nations", but ignoring Wales & NI)
Some say 10% (based on population).

Does anyone know from where we can expect an answer on this, and when?

The boundary between the Scottish sector & English sector of the North Sea was changed in 1999. Instead of a line running due east from Berwick on Tweed, it now jogs north a fair bit. i wonder why...http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1999/1126/note/made
OOH did they knock down McCaigs folly.....
