I couldn't imagine drinking waste product, but to each his/her own!!
This seems to be a holistic or Eastern medicine practice, but what do I know?
Dr. Snoddy, what's your opinion?
Dear Dorian,
Believe you me, there are poor souls in this village, indeed all the surrounding villages, that consume amber coloured liquids that are much more volatile and harmful than urine. Even although some of the said liquids look, taste and smell like urine, they aren't products of the kidneys, and are certainly not marketed so. It is true to say however, that they will very quickly be converted to the renal fluid and expelled from the bladder under a relatively high pressure.
If you have ever had the dubious pleasure of having the urine forceably extracted from you, by catheter or otherwise, you have probably had some sort of ailment within your internal irrigation system.
However, it is a little known fact that urine from a healthy bladder and urethra should be perfectly sterile. Although water is the main constituent of urine, depending on its strength, it may contain high levels of salts and minerals, which the kidneys have already filtered out. I personally doubt whether sending them back for further re-processing will benefit the recipient, unless they are already deficient in the aforementioned salts and minerals.
It is the age old story, a balanced diet with plenty of pure water is my best advice, so avoid taking the urine from the all too willing donor, unless your throat or ear is on fire!
Dr Snod Esq.
Two spoonfulls of Halibut-Liver Oil, Morning & Evening. You know the surgery hours, so don't bother me at any other time. I most certainly don't get paid enough.
Any resemblance to Snoddy's past and present are purely coincidental!
