Knew it was something to do with getting off
a sinking boat, never was told any other detail.

Reference my tale of how 'Ducha' got his name, only yesterday the story of his escape from a sinking boat was confirmed to me by Lachie Paterson of Carradale. He also offered the information that the boat in question was the skiff "Rolling Wave", that had been at anchor when she capsized. His informant was the late 'Wee Jamie' Campbell, skipper of the "Irma".
I recall a lady who was, I think a sister of Ducha's, filling cans of water that issued from a cast iron pipe that ran from the direction of the Broo and ran parallel to the then eastern playground of the Dalintober School before discharging on to High Street.
She averred that it was "the best water in the whole toon."
