David, I've tried accessing your web cam, but it's still showing a photo from Friday, is all ok?

Mary,

Glad you enjoy the Webcam - Michael at http://www.dmsgraphics.co.uk/ was good enough to supply the camera to me and Gary of http://www.the-carradale-goat.co.uk has been kind enough to set-up a temp hosting site. I do really need to get round to changing this over mind you.

I've often wondered if people use the webcam or not so great to hear you do! However, I don't know if smelling the loch is a good thing sometimes!

Some good views lately with the nice weather.

Having been bobbing up and down in the Loch on several occasions I can assure you the whiff can bring a tear to the eye too!

It is a wee bit stuck, but on such a beautiful evening! I miss it :( , I had to get a running commentary from my pa last night of the yachts on the loch!

Sorry folks - me and the camera have had a bit of an off week... :? but it is now, like me, working again.

It is funny - I always wondered how many people use the camera and now I know - had e-mails from New Zealand and America etc wondering why it isnt on!

Wanted to give the PC a wee rest as it is constantly on! Anyway it has been a miserable week 8)

Been quiet on here this week??? Take a few days off from posting and so does everyone else!

Yeah, our webcam has been pretty much consistently showing that it's raining on Carradale. Miserable weather.

Good news is that a nice man from BT came along yesterday and converted our ISDN line to ADSL so we now have the house wired for broadband.

Cheers

Is the conversion from ISDN to ADSL expensive Gary? That's the route I'll have to take too but it will be the end of the year before Tayinloan exchange is broadband enabled.

I have found webcam software that will control my Olympus 750zoom so may set up a webcam here. That'll give a view of the rain too

I'm not entirely sure, Malky. I haven't seen the bill yet. I wouldn't have thought it would be more than the normal ADSL activation fee though, which was 75ukp last time I checked.

You'll also get an additional phone line, of course, once you've freed the line from ISDN.

Cheers

Software is from Erdman Video Systems and is free to use, you just got to figure it out yourself. It only works with certain models of Olympus cameras both digital and video.

If you require support for the software or buy the mounting hardware they supply, it is expensive though. It allows you a lot of control - remote pan, tilt, zoom etc etc.

See here: http://www.video-monitoring.com/software.htm
