Aye, Iain, that is how the tune is known nowadays, but both you and I know that it is "Glendaruel Highlanders".

The original "Campbeltown Loch" is a different tune, composed in the 1800s by William Gunn from Caithness, and although it is also a 6/8 march, the tune does not fit the words. I am writing this off the top of my head but if the ancestry of the tune is different I will let you know.

Sorry to be so pedantic, but I inherited that trait from my late father who was very particular about pipe tunes and their names etc.

Andy Stewart has a lot to answer for. He hijacked a few pipe tunes and imprinted different names on them. But he was popular.

In spite of people like Andy Stewart we need to maintain the underlying tradition. Here, wait a minute, I'm starting to sound like my father!
