Tax Department road checks :

Postby Iain » Fri Feb 14, 2014 7:13 pm

A first here in Belgium ! Does it exist in Scotland ?
If not, you can guarantee it’ll be coming soon !

In a country with the reputation of being one of the most taxed in the world, we now have a new one on our city streets. Passed one on the road this morning !
The Government Tax Department have “police” patrols and road-traps to find drivers who have not paid their road tax and insurance policies.

The camera records the car registration number and in a matter of seconds, detects an un-insured car. One hundred yards up the road is a ‘battalion’ of at least 4 vehicles and dogs from customs and excise to carburant verification. (diesel cars running on heating fuel)
Just in our region alone, it’s so far reaped 75.000€ of income since the beginning of the year. (principally foreigners)

So beware ! Lol !

Been happening here for years by the DVLA, HM revenue & customs and the police.

In total agreement with it, non insured cars/drivers are part of the reason we are paying sky high prices for car insurance.

If you are up to date with insurance, vehicle tax and are using legal fuel you have nothing to worry about.

 Yep, for years I've had one of those cameras a few hundred yards from my house. A few weeks ago, I passed the same 'battalion' you describe Iain and cheered.
